JOB SUMMARY:
Oversees the education-related philanthropic programs of Roll Global LLC, its subsidiary companies, its owners, Lynda and Stewart Resnick, and the Resnick Foundation.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assesses the impact and outcomes of the education programs supported and conducted by Roll Global and its companies, with particular focus on education initiatives in the Central Valley of California including school-based grants and initiatives, scholarship programs and mentoring programs.
  • Advises VP Philanthropy and the Resnicks on strategies to improve impact and outcomes, and on new education program investment opportunities.
  • Performs first review of education-related funding requests and preliminary vetting of charities seeking funding.
  • Administers education-related grants including maintaining regular contact with and oversight of programs receiving funding, tracking outcomes and compliance with grant guidelines and goals, and providing regular reporting to VP Philanthropy and the Resnicks on program accomplishments.
  • Conducts research on issues related to education programs, outcomes, reform and innovation.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of the education field, including school systems, education policy and politics, innovative programs and current best practices, especially with regard to working with immigrant communities and English Language Learners.
  • Knowledge of the nonprofit sector, particularly program assessment and evaluation. Familiarity with the Central Valley of California or, at a minimum, similar rural, agricultural, immigrant communities.
  • Fluency in Spanish a plus.
  • Ability to see the big picture, but also willingness to “roll up sleeves” and do whatever it takes to get the job done.
  • Ability to handle multiple tasks simultaneously while meeting deadlines and without compromising quality.
  • Strong attention to detail and administrative/computer skills
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Excellent interpersonal and diplomacy skills.
  • Ability and propensity to anticipate and creatively solve problems.
  • A commitment to community involvement and philanthropy.
  • Willingness to travel regularly (primarily day trips) to the Central Valley or Los Angeles (depending on location).

EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:

  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Graduate degree in education and/or education policy strongly preferred.
  • A minimum of five years experience working in education, school administration, education policy, nonprofit social services and/or grant-making.
  • Experience working in low-income, Latino (ideally rural/agricultural) communities.
