JOB OBJECTIVE:


    PBS Education provides educational services to PBS stations, school systems, teachers, students and the public through digital product offerings including PBS Learning Media, PBS TeacherLine and PBS Teachers.

    The Director, Digital Curriculum is responsible for establishing and managing the curricular vision, strategy and framework for PBS Education’s digital products. The Director, Digital Curriculum works collaboratively across PBS and its member stations to ensure that digital content supports the evolving needs of 21st century classrooms, meets curriculum standards, and can be customized to meet the needs of school systems. He/she provides leadership and guidance to digital content contributors (stations, producers and partner organizations) and manages content development initiatives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:


  • Lead the curricular vision and strategy for PBS Education’s digital products
  • Work in partnership with internal staff on the development of the fiscal year content strategy plan
  • Oversee content management strategy and system to ensure content meets strategic goals and can be incorporated seamlessly into the services
  • Manage content development and acquisition guidelines and ensure digital content aligns with curriculum standards
  • Serve as lead relationship manager for content contributors
  • Provide guidance to producers and stations on content development, contribution and integration into Education products including recommendations for adapting assets for classroom use
  • Manage content review process, including management of teacher review board and content approval process
  • Partner with states, districts and schools in content development and alignment
  • Identify new content partners, negotiate and secure content agreements working with Legal and Business Affairs teams
  • Conduct PBS system-wide and industry conference presentations
  • Stay abreast of current Pre-K – 12 Education curriculum standards and digital content trends and opportunities for innovation

MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:


  • 2+ years’ experience leading or developing curriculum for a school district or state
  • 4+ years’ experience in classroom teaching
  • 2+ years’ experience teaching with digital resources
  • 2+ years’ experience in producing online and/or digital web content desired
  • Experience writing materials for publication online and/or in print
  • Experience working in a collaborative team environment
  • Experience working with external partners and/or organizations
  • Project management experience, including experience leading


MINIMUM EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIRED:



  • Bachelor’s degree in Education or a related field of study; Master’s degree strongly preferred


SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED:


  • Strong understanding of the Pre-K – 12 Education market
  • In-depth knowledge of current curriculum standards for Pre-K – 12 Education
  • Strong utilization and understanding of the digital resources in the classroom
  • Proven leadership skills
  • Strong writing and editing skills and background
  • Superior organizational skills and attention to details
  • Resourceful, self-directed and skillful team player
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Excellent time management skills and the ability and flexibility to handle multiple tasks simultaneously
  • Tactfulness and diplomacy when responding to questions and concerns
