JOB OBJECTIVE:

Work closely with PBS KIDS Interactive Creative Director on front-end development of PBS KIDS web projects. Act as design lead on designated projects.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES:



  • Design and front-end development of pbskids.org sites and systems such as PBS KIDS Games area, PBS KIDS TV Schedules, user login/registration, etc
  • Work closely with editorial staff to review and critique internally and externally developed wireframes and designs for sites such as Cat in the Hat and Dinosaur Train
  • Communicate directly with external producers on design projects
  • Follow and advocate PBS KIDS production guidelines & standards
  • Stay up to date on latest production techniques and issues


MINIMUM EXPERIENCE REQUIRED:



  • 5 years in a web design role. Previous experience designing for kids audience. Only online portfolios demonstrating strong web design and production ability will be considered.


MINIMUM EDUCATION/TRAINING REQUIRED:



  • Bachelors Degree in web design or related field


SKILLS/ABILITIES REQUIRED:



  • Strong sense of visual, information and interface design for users ages 2-10
  • Expertise in producing clean, standards compliant HTML5, CSS3 and JavaScript
  • Expertise in cross-browser compatibility
  • Expertise in Adobe Photoshop and Adobe Illustrator
  • Ability to wireframe, design, prototype and code websites and revise based on feedback
  • Ability to communicate ideas through illustration
  • Ability to act as design lead on multiple assigned projects and manage own time
  • Ability to explain design concepts to designers and non-designers
  • Familiarity with the concept of responsive design
  • Familiarity with mobile web and mobile app design
  • Familiarity with video game design
  • Familiarity with Flash and ActionScript 3
