LOS ANGELES – (September 9, 2024) – The 39th annual Imagen Awards celebrated Hollywood’s most famous Latino entertainers, directors, writers in film, streaming and television. The event honored the stellar performances in 30 categories that featured compelling storytelling and performances by Latino creators, artists, and entertainers.

This year’s Imagen Award winners include The Long Game (Mucho Mas Media), an inspiring story of war veteran turned San Felipe High School superintendent where he assembled the first Latino high school golf club team in the 1950s. Despite every all-white country club that rejected them due to the color of their skin, the team eventually won the Texas state championship in 1957. Alejandra Marquez Abella won for best director for A Million Miles Away (Amazon).

The 39th independent panel of entertainment industry executives and Latina and Latino community leaders determined Annual Imagen Awards winners.

About The Imagen Awards

The Imagen (pronounced ee-mah-hen) Awards program was established in 1985 from a suggestion by veteran television producer Norman Lear to encourage and recognize the positive portrayals of Latinos in the media. Later, as The Imagen Foundation, it expanded its programs and initiatives to further its mission to serve as a bridge between the Latino community and the entertainment industry in providing access, education, and resources for Latinos in the industry, as well as those seeking careers in entertainment. More information on the organization as well as details of the event can be found online at www.imagen.org and its social media channels: FacebookTwitter and Instagram.
