BEVERLY HILLS, CA – (August 22, 2025) – The 40th annual Imagen Awards celebrated Hollywood’s most famous Latino entertainers, directors and writers in film, television and streaming. “As we celebrate 40 years of the Imagen Awards, I am filled with pride for how far we’ve come in elevating Latino voices in Hollywood. What began as a vision to create greater opportunity and representation has become a steadfast movement that continues to showcase the extraordinary talent and cultural richness of our creative community.”
The Imagen President’s Award was presented to Gustavo Dudamel, internationally renowned composer and music director of the Los Angeles Philharmonic, in recognition of his musical contributions and his role in inspiring the Youth Orchestra Los Angeles (YOLA). Established in 2007, YOLA provides free instruments, music training and academic support to students ages 6 to 18 from low-income communities. Dudamel delivered his acceptance speech by video.
Dailyn Rodriguez, an award-winning writer, producer and showrunner best known for her work on Ugly Betty, The Glades, The Night Shift, Queen of the South and most recently as executive producer and co-showrunner of Netflix’s hit legal drama The Lincoln Lawyer, received the organization’s Norman Lear Writer’s Award. Named in honor of the legendary television producer and Imagen co-founder, the award recognizes outstanding creative talent of Latino descent who have excelled in television or film and advanced authentic cultural representation.
The evening also paid tribute to Imagen Foundation founder, Helen Hernandez, for four decades of leadership and dedication to the organization. Her milestone was acknowledged by actor Edward James Olmos, renowned choreographer Kenny Ortega, labor leader Dolores Huerta and Los Angeles County Supervisor Hilda Solis, who joined in honoring her lasting contributions.

About The Imagen Awards
The Imagen (pronounced ee-mah-hen) Awards program was established in 1985 from a suggestion by veteran television producer Norman Lear to encourage and recognize the positive portrayals of Latinos in the media. Later, as The Imagen Foundation, it expanded its programs and initiatives to further its mission to serve as a bridge between the Latino community and the entertainment industry in providing access, education, and resources for Latinos in the industry, as well as those seeking careers in entertainment.
