Qualifications

The Imagen Foundation invites submissions for appropriate and qualifying entries in English or Spanish language television programming, feature films, advertising, or documentaries that fulfill the following requirements:

(a) portray Latinos and/or the Latino culture in an authentic manner OR

(b) demonstrate outstanding creative achievement by Latino talent OR

(c) serve to educate the public about Latino cultures

AND

(d) are produced for distribution in the United States

AND

(e) first-aired or released in a U.S. market (theatrical, network, local, cable, first-run syndication, streaming service, film festival) between May 1, 2024 and April 30, 2025.

All entries must be emailed or submitted online by May 1, 2025.

Who Can Submit?

Actors, writers, producers, directors, studios, networks, streaming providers, talent, talent agents, managers, publicists, production companies, and advertising agencies are eligible to submit entries.

Submissions will be judged by distinguished panels of entertainment industry representatives and community leaders.

General Guidelines

In addition to the criteria listed under Qualifications and the individual Category criteria, all entries must abide by the following to be considered for the 40th Annual Imagen Awards Competition:

  • Application & Materials: Submit one full and complete entry form for each qualifying entry along with all required supplemental application materials. Submissions that do not include all required materials will not be considered complete and may be returned if required materials are not received by the deadline.
  • Online Screener: Entry must include an online screener such as a video link or file that can be accessed through August 31, 2025. The video can also be provided as a downloadable video file. The online screener must be easily accessible, and may require access via a password or unique code. In the event of an inaccessible or broken link, Imagen will attempt to contact the Primary Contact for a new link. If Imagen is unable to obtain a working screener, the entry may be disqualified.
  • Captions & Subtitles: Imagen supports and encourages closed captions on all screeners. Non-English films and program submissions must include English subtitles.
  • Submission Portal: Submissions must be made via our Online Submission Portal located at https://submit.imagen.org.
  • Waiver & Release: Submissions include a Waiver and Release that must be signed before submitting. By signing the waiver, you are granting The Imagen Foundation the right to use a clip of the submission, the winners/finalists and/or the qualifying program, film, or project in connection with the Awards ceremony.   • Submission Fees: A fee is required per entry, per category, per the Submission Fees schedule in the next section. Payment of the submission fee must be received by the entry deadline for the entry to be considered complete and eligible.
  • Accuracy: Review each category and ensure that your entry meets the qualifications for the category you are submitting. Incorrectly categorized entries may be disqualified from the competition at the discretion of the judges.
  • Once submitted, there are no refunds and entries are non-returnable.
  • All nominees agree to name an acceptor and provide the name and contact information to the Imagen Foundation no less than two weeks prior to the Imagen Awards.

Submission Fees

A submission fee of $375 is required per entry, per category for all of the categories, with the following exceptions:

Best Documentary: Independently produced documentaries are $200 per entry, per category. Only independently produced documentaries qualify for this special fee. This special fee applies only to the Best Documentary category.

Best Short Film: The submission fee is $150 per entry, per category. This special fee applies only to the Best Short Film category.

Best Student Film*: The submission fee for each of this category is $100 per entry, per category. This special fee applies only to the Best Student Film and Best Short Film categories. *Students who are members of Imagen Insiders, see the note below.

Payment of all fees associated with entries must be received prior to the submission deadline for entries to be considered complete and eligible. Otherwise, entries will be rejected.

Imagen Insider Discounts

Members of Imagen Insiders are eligible to receive one-time discounts, as listed below. Click here to learn more about Imagen Insider Membership.

  • Executive, Creative, Associate, and Non-Profit Members: Receive a one-time discount of $100 on one entry submission.
  • Academic Members: Students members of Imagen Insiders can submit one complimentary entry in the Best Student Film category only.

Entry/Award Note

In the event of errors, discrepancies, challenges, or other issues, the Imagen Foundation will have full rights and authority to make any appropriate decision, changes, or adjustments to entries, categories, or awards.

No changes can be made after the announcement of nominees.

Deadline

All entries must be postmarked, emailed, or submitted online by May 1, 2025.

Nominees Announcement

Nominees will be announced on or about July 15th. The individual listed as the Designated Contact will receive the email notification of when nominees will be announced, as well as the press release. Nominees will be listed on the Imagen website: www.imagen.org.

Nominees will be named as described and submitted on the official Imagen Awards entry form. The accuracy of the information provided on the entry form is the responsibility of the submitter and is not the responsibility of the Imagen Foundation.

The Imagen Foundation will notify the Primary Contact listed on the entry form of the nomination. If a third-party consultant is engaged to submit on behalf of an entertainment entity, they are required to identify a Designated Contact. The Designated Contact information will be used if the submission is nominated.

All nominees agree to name an acceptor and inform the Imagen Foundation no less than two weeks prior to the Imagen Awards.

Awards Presentation

Winners will be announced at the 40th Annual Imagen Awards, which will be held on Friday, August 22, 2025 at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills. Winners are not notified in advance of the ceremony.
